Took a day trip today with Mom and Dad. We drove over to the Gila Valley (Pima, Central, Thatcher, and Safford, AZ). We met Faith and Josh (who had driven over last night and are spending the weekend with Josh's sister who lives in Safford and his grandma) for lunch at Jerry's diner. Then we went and did a session at the Gila Valley temple.
This was my first time going to this temple. It is one of the small ones, but it is really pretty (as they all are). I really liked the color of blue they had throughout the building in the carpet, stained glass, and wall paintings. We took through some names of some of our Swedish ancestors on Dad's side of the family.
After the temple we went to go find the Thatcher cemetery to visit some family graves. While we were driving over Mom read to us the biographies she wrote on her great-great-great grandparents: Alvin and Harriet Montierth who are buried in Thatcher. Dad's great and great-great grandparents are also buried there.
It was kind of sad...grandpa and grandma Montierth are all alone in the family plot. Mom decided she might want to be buried there with them and is going to do some investigation on if the other plots are available and how to go about getting one.
We bought some flowers in town to leave at each of the grave sites.
