trying something new

Decided to try and go vegetarian. I've told a few people and their question is always the same: "Why?" Answer: Because I'm basically doing it right now anyway. It's not that I have a moral objection to meat (heaven knows I love me a good cheeseburger now and again), I just feel better when I don't eat meat. It's healthier and cheaper also. So...I'm going to try it see what happens...

...got stung by a bee for the first time (see previous post)!

...found a great new burger/frozen custard place with Katy (Freddy's in Gilbert)!

...have been working on reading the Book of Mormon as part of the challenge my ward/stake is doing (30 days = 15 pages a day)!

...bought the General Conference CDs from last April's conference and have been listening to them on my way to and from work each day (I love the gospel)!

...have seen "Green Lantern" twice (I want to nibble on Ryan Reynolds and have him for my very own)!

...had to get my brakes replaced on my Jetta (good-bye $850...you will be sorely missed)!

...got a $100 gift card to Home Depot with my credit card points!

...used said gift card to buy a new grill (bring on the hot dogs and hamburgers, I'm ready for the 4th of July)!

...changed my work schedule (now taking a half hour lunch so I can leave at 3:30 instead of 4)!

...helped Katy put together her 2 new bookcases/night stands!

...discovered a new life motto ("Did I waste any of the day I just finished?")!

...did my visiting teaching for the first time in almost a year (I know...I'm a slacker)!

...sprayed all the weeds in my front and backyards!

...gone to the temple twice!

...become addicted to "The Big Bang Theory" and have watched the first 2 seasons courtesy of Netflix!

...contemplated becoming a vegetarian!

i got stung

So there I was, minding my own business floating in the pool when I hear Katy call out, "There's a bee on you!" Everyone knows when bees are around, instead of flailing around you should stay still. So, of course, I stiffened up (kind of hard to do, by the way, in a sit & float). "Dunk your leg! Dunk your leg!" Katy yelled. I dunked my leg farther into the water and what happened?

I GOT STUNG!

Right in my leg meat! Where is the worst place to get stung? (No, not there. Sicko.) Your inner thigh. Yep. That's where he got me. And now here I sit, with mud on the sting site and an ice pack. Oooowwwww!!!! It hurts!! I want my mommy!

Today I read and finished this book:

It was the third book in a trilogy and I couldn't put it down! Part of the reason was because the network server at work went down and I wasn't able to do ANY work today, but the other reason is because I am in love with Dante. Why oh why can't I find my own sexy Italian to love me??

I don't know if there are any plans for this book to be made into a movie, but if it is I have a requirement. Thomas McDonell HAS to play Dante. He was in the "Prom" movie from Disney and the whole time I was watching all I could think was, "He's Dante. He's totally Dante."

x-men

Went and saw the new X-Men movie last night: X-Men First Class. I thought it was a good movie. However, I went with an X-Men/comic book lover and she did NOT think it was a good movie. Ahhh...the blessings of naivete...

Here's what I liked:

Michael Fassbender as Eric/Magneto was FANTASTIC and very pretty.

There were a lot of inconsistencies between this movie (which is a prequel) and the other 3 X-Men movies previously released all of which would be okay if the intent was for this movie to be a reboot of the franchise...but I don't think it is. So, the inconsistencies are a little maddening. Did they not watch the other three movies? Did they forget what they had already written and done?? Come on people!!

Bottom line: if you want to see the movie, do it! As previously stated, I did like it, but...you have to pretend that you don't know what happens in the other movies...

What I want to know is when are they going to make an X-Men movie about my favorite X-Man?

I have had a crush on Gambit since I was nine years old and I first started watching the animated series on TV. He was my first TV crush, my first cartoon crush, and he continues to hold a special place in my heart. Katy and I decided who should play Gambit in the movie:

Timothy Olyphant. Tell me he isn't Remy/Gambit??? It makes me fluttery just thinking about it....
